Profile

The Department of Telugu was started at the time of the inception of the college itself in 1968. To start with the department had 4 members, Sri Nagalla Guru Prasad Rao, M.A., K.Rama Mohana Rao,M.A., Sri G.Lakshmi Narayana, M.A., and Sri Ch. Ramaiah Choudary, Ubhaya Bhasha Praveena.

Sri G. Prakasha Rao, M.A., B.Ed., Sri S.Siva Ramakrishnaiah, Ubhaya Basha Praveena, Sri G.Siva Naraiah, M.A., Smt. G.Geetanjali, M.A., Smt Lalitha, M.A., Sri A.Rama Swamy Sastry, M.A were added to the department. In due course Sri N. Guru Prasada Rao, Sri S.Siva Ramakrishnaiah, Smt G.Geetanjali, Sri Siva Naraiah left the department to join in other posts at other colleges. We are sorry to inform that Sri Ch.Ramaiah Choudary and Sri A.Rama Swamy Sastry, Sri P. Subbarao were expired.

The college telugu literary association invited several literary luminaries to deliver talks on various literary topics. Sri Pallepooma Pragnacharya, Gurram Jashuva, Tummala Seetha Rama Murthy, Madhunapanthula Satyanarayana Sastry, Vanamamalai Varadha Charyulu, C.Narayana Reddy, Karunasri, Utpala Satytanarayana Charya, Kaloji, Mocherla Ramakrishnaiah, Perala Bharatha Sarma, Duvvuri Venkata Ramana Sastry, Divakarla Venkatavadhani, Mallampalli Sarabhaiah, Vemparala Suryanarayana Sastry, Sannidhanam Suryanarayana Sastry, Korlapaty Srirama Murthy, Thumati Donappa, Boddupalli Purushottam, Prasadaraya Kulapati, Ponnekanti Hanumantha Rao, Spoorthisri, Marupuri Kodanda Rami Reddy, Rajanna Kavi, Medasani Mohan,Putcha Poornanandam, Eluripati Anantha Ramaiah, V.V.L.Narasimaha Rao, Nazar, Sanjeevadev, V.V.Narasimaha Rao, Neelakanta Sastry, Veeraji, Bamidipati Radha Krishna visited the college and delivered lectures.

Sanskrit Department was started in 1988 in addition to Telugu Department. Sri K. Nagaraju, M.A., Sri K.V.L.N. Appalaycharyulu, M.A., and Sri K.Sankara Saibaba, M.A., were appointed as Adhoc Lecturers in Sanskrit. Sri K.Naga Raju left the college to join in other duty. Sri K.V.L.N. Appalacharyulu has joined as part-time research scholar and got his Ph.D. Degree.

Strengths of the Department:
  • The Department conducts National Seminars/Symposia and Guest Lectures at regular intervals
  • The faculty members participate in many seminars and present research papers at various places
  • Senior Faculty members are appointed as members of Board of Studies in different Autonomous Colleges
  • Faculty Members contributed lessons to the first and the second year degree textbooks for the students of Distance Education, Acharya Nagarjuna University.
  • The teachers are well- qualified and well experienced
Opportunities Of The Depatrement:
  • The UGC provides financial assistance to the research projects.
  • The Departmental Library has a rich collection of different books on grammar, research etc.
  • DBH Prachar Sabha , Chennai and some other agencies help other institutions run certificate courses which have job potential.
  • There are many Research Journals publishing research papers.
  • Students can be motivated to certain extent by lending books in our Library.
Challanges of The Departement
  • To develop love and affection for languages
  • To improve enrolment of students in Telugu, Sanskrit and Hindi
  • To send research proposals to the UGC and get them sanctioned
  • To motivate the students in opting good institutions in their pursuit for further studies.
  • To motivate students in get good jobs.
Future Plans Of The Departement
  • Planning to conduct seminars to develop presentation skills of students in languages
  • Planning to celebrate birth and death anniversaries of great poets and other days of importance.
  • The Department plans to conduct certificate courses in languages under the auspices of DBH Prachar Sabha, Chennai and other agencies.
  • The Department proposes to apply for the UGC projects.
